Antique French Oak Roll-Front Cabinet, circa 1920–1930

A tall and narrow antique French roll-front cabinet dating from circa 1920–1930.

Made of oak, the cabinet features a single full-length wooden roll-front door. The door is constructed from numerous narrow rounded wooden slats rather than flat slats, giving the front its distinctive ribbed appearance. The roll-front runs smoothly and closes properly.

Inside, the cabinet is fitted with multiple removable and adjustable wooden shelves. Numerous shelf supports along the interior sides allow the position and spacing of the shelves to be changed according to use.

The front retains its original metal lock plate marked “GRODAM”, together with a small metal plaque reading “Lebienheureux Fils – Montluçon.” A shaped wooden handle is integrated into the upper part of the roll-front door.

With a width of only 47 cm, the cabinet offers practical storage while taking up relatively little floor space. It could be used for storing documents, books, shoes, textiles, collections or other smaller objects.

The oak retains its aged finish, with visible variations in colour, marks, scratches and other traces of former use consistent with its age.
