Antique Monastery Bench XXL – Long Pine Storage Bench with Oak Frame, c. 1900–1920
Large antique monastery bench dating from the early 20th century (circa 1900–1920). Originally sourced from a monastery in France, this extra-long bench is crafted primarily from pine wood, with solid oak used for the structural frames and legs.
The bench features a simple, functional design with a straight backrest and shaped side supports. The seat consists of four hinged sections, opening to reveal practical storage compartments beneath.
The wood has developed a warm patina over time with visible wear consistent with age and use. Natural variations, surface marks, and signs of age contribute to its authentic character.
Please note: the bench contains old woodworm holes, which are common in antique softwood furniture of this age. The bench has been treated preventively and is suitable for everyday use.
