Its simple construction and proportions are characteristic of traditional rural furniture from this period.

The tabletop is approximately 4 cm thick and consists of several solid oak planks. The wood has developed a warm brown colour over time, with visible grain, knots, marks and irregularities from centuries of use.

The turned legs have a simple, traditional design, while the wooden stretchers connect the legs and provide additional support.

With its compact dimensions, the table is suitable for use as a small writing desk, occasional table or rustic kitchen table. Its width of 86 cm provides enough space for a laptop, writing materials or a small desk lamp.

The table retains its aged wooden surface and natural patina, with the wear and imperfections typical of an 18th-century piece.

Details

Origin: Auvergne, France

Period: 18th century, circa 1700–1800

Material: Solid oak

Style: French Country / Rustic

Original use: Small country table

Tabletop: Solid oak planks with rounded edges

Tabletop thickness: Approximately 4 cm

Legs: Four turned oak legs

Construction: Traditional wooden stretchers connecting the legs

Possible uses: Small writing desk, occasional table, kitchen table

Dimensions

Width: 86 cm

Depth: 59 cm

Height: 72 cm

Knee clearance: 60 cm

Tabletop thickness: Approximately 4 cm

Weight: 23 kg

Condition

The table is in good antique condition, with visible signs of age and use consistent with its considerable age.

The solid oak tabletop shows scratches, dents, stains, darkened areas and irregularities in the wood.
