The front is finished with a gently scalloped edge along the bottom, while the short, curved feet are integrated into the wooden construction.

The front features a central keyhole plate framed by an arched wooden moulding. The original lock is no longer present.

The hinged lid opens to reveal a spacious wooden interior, suitable for storing blankets, bedding, linens or other household items. The interior retains its traditional wooden construction, including old iron hinges and reinforcing fittings.

The oak has developed a warm brown colour over time, with visible wood grain, natural variations in tone and a patina reflecting its considerable age.

Chests of this type were traditionally used in rural French households to store linens, clothing and personal belongings.
