Large French Earthenware Confit Pot with Lid (circa 1900)

An impressive large French confit pot dating from around 1900, featuring four sturdy handles and a matching lid.
This traditional storage vessel, known as a pot à graisse or confit jar, was once used in rural France to preserve duck, pork, or other foods in fat — long before refrigeration existed.

Handcrafted in thick earthenware with a warm brown glaze, this pot displays the timeless simplicity and practicality of French farmhouse pottery. The inside is lightly glazed to make it suitable for storing food. Today, it serves beautifully as a decorative accent — perfect for a rustic kitchen, garden room, or as an authentic statement piece in an interior.
