Rare 19th c. Walnut Work Table – French Dental Goldsmith Use
This rare and characterful early 19th century French work table was originally used in the meticulous processing of gold for dental applications. Crafted from solid walnut, the piece bears all the marks of decades of skilled craftsmanship and purpose-driven design.
The tabletop features three rounded recesses on three sides — practical cutouts designed for comfortable, close-up working. Below the surface, you’ll find six small drawers (two on each working side) for tools or materials, and at the back of the tabletop, a raised tool holder remains intact — a unique and authentic detail.
At some point in its long working life, the table was slightly raised in height for more ergonomic use. This elevation can be adjusted upon request to better suit your preferred working or display height — just let us know your needs.
Beautifully turned legs add a touch of elegance to its utilitarian origins. This piece tells a story and would make a striking addition to any interior — whether as a statement desk, display piece, or even as a conversation-starting console.
