Set of 5 Mid-Century French Dining Chairs in Walnut with Light Taupe Upholstery – 1950s

Set of five French dining chairs dating from the mid-20th century. Each chair has a solid walnut frame with a warm natural finish and a seat and backrest upholstered in a light taupe coated furniture fabric with a coarse texture. The edges are finished with small decorative nailheads.

The chairs are upholstered using traditional construction methods, including:

• Natural linen underlining secured with tacks,

• Jute webbing in cross pattern for seat support,

• Padding of mixed plant fibers and horsehair, providing resilience and comfort.

These materials and techniques are consistent with high-quality French furniture production of the 1950s and 1960s. The design features slightly curved legs and a gently reclined backrest, characteristic of the mid-century modern style.
