Antique French Louis Philippe Mirror, 19th Century
This French Louis Philippe mirror dates from the second half of the 19th century. It features the characteristic rounded upper corners and a broad moulded wooden frame with a gilt finish and an inner beaded border.
The frame is constructed of wood with a traditional gesso preparation beneath the gilt finish, consistent with mirrors from this period. The rear retains its original wooden backing.
The mirror remains in good antique condition with age-related wear, including wear and minor losses to the gilt finish, light ageing to the mirror plate, and small chips to the gesso. There is a more noticeable loss to the upper right corner of the frame, as shown in the photographs. The frame is structurally sound.
