Antique French Walnut Commode, Early 19th Century (1800–1830), 4 Drawers
This antique French commode dates from the early 19th century (circa 1800–1830) and is crafted from solid walnut with walnut veneer. The piece features a classic and well-balanced design, with subtle Empire influences visible in the column-form front supports and clean, architectural lines.
The commode is fitted with four spacious drawers, all constructed using traditional joinery techniques. The drawer fronts display a warm walnut grain with natural variation and depth, while the original or early brass knobs add to its authentic character.
The cabinet stands on simple block feet and retains a solid and stable structure. The back is made from more utilitarian wood, as is typical for furniture of this period.
The surface and structure show signs of age and use, including small marks, wear, and patina consistent with its age. These elements contribute to the overall character of the piece and reflect its history.
This commode is suitable for use as a storage cabinet, bedroom chest, or as a decorative piece in a living space, hallway, or retail setting.
