Antique Pine Drawer Cabinet with 50 Drawers, Apothecary or Hardware Cabinet, 19th Century
This large 19th century drawer cabinet is crafted from solid pine and features an impressive arrangement of 50 small drawers and 5 larger drawers.
Originally used as a hardware cabinet (quincaillerie) in a workshop or shop setting, this piece may also have been used for storing herbs or small goods, as suggested by the remaining traces of old labels on the drawer fronts.
The cabinet has a strong utilitarian character, typical of working furniture from the period. The visible wear, patina, and label remnants reflect decades of practical use and contribute to its authentic appearance.
There are old woodworm holes present, consistent with the age of the piece. The cabinet has been professionally and preventively treated against woodworm, and there are no signs of active infestation.
With its large number of drawers and well-balanced proportions, this piece is both highly functional and visually striking. It works well as a statement storage cabinet in interiors ranging from rustic farmhouse to industrial or eclectic spaces.
