French Antique Drop-Leaf Dining Table – Cherrywood & Walnut, 1870–1900

Antique French drop-leaf dining table dating from the late 19th century, circa 1870–1900.

The table has a cherrywood top with two hinged drop leaves. With both leaves raised, the table forms a large round dining table measuring 121 cm in diameter. The leaves can be lowered independently, allowing the table to be used in several configurations and making it suitable for rooms where space is limited.

The table stands on four turned walnut legs with detailed ring and baluster turning. The warm colour of the cherrywood top contrasts subtly with the darker walnut base.

When both leaves are lowered, the table measures approximately 73 × 121 cm, making it considerably narrower for storage or everyday use.

The wood shows marks, colour variations and other signs of age and use consistent with a table of this period. Please refer to the photographs for details of the condition.
