Large 18th Century French Oak Buffet Cabinet from Auvergne
Large antique oak buffet cabinet from the Auvergne region of France, dating from the 18th century.
The cabinet is made from solid oak and has two large panelled doors with three drawers in the centre. Both doors can be locked with their keys. Inside are two large wooden shelves.
The front is decorated with shaped mouldings and carved details. The lower apron has a carved central decoration, with further carved details on the feet. The cabinet retains its old metal hardware.
The oak has a warm, naturally aged surface with visible traces of more than two centuries of use. Over the years, several areas have been carefully repaired using traditional woodworking techniques. These old repairs have been well executed, including the neatly fitted wooden inserts visible in the top.
The cabinet is in good antique condition for its age. There are scratches, marks, colour variations, small imperfections and other signs of age and use. Please see the photos for the overall condition and details.
