Vintage French Beech Workbench, Console Table, Bathroom Vanity, Industrial Side Table, c. 1950–1970
This French workbench dates from the period between 1950 and 1970. It is made of solid beech and retains its original spindle on the left-hand side.
The workbench features a 5 cm thick top with a simple, functional design. Beneath the top is an open shelf and a lockable storage compartment with a hinged lid, providing practical storage for tools or household items.
Originally designed as a carpenter’s workbench, it is also suitable for use as a console table, kitchen island, bathroom vanity or side table.
The original spindle is still fitted, and the spindle support retains its original Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (BHV), Paris retailer badge, indicating that the workbench was originally sold through the well-known Paris department store.
The workbench is sturdy and stable and shows normal signs of age and use, including marks, scratches, wear and age-related shrinkage cracks in the top, all consistent with its history and use.
