Large Antique Cast Iron Jardinière on Foot, France, circa 1900
Large antique cast iron jardinière, originating from France and dating to the period around 1900. This generously sized planter features an oval bowl set on a raised foot, with richly modelled floral reliefs and elegant scrolling handles on both sides.
The surface retains original layers of aged paint, showing a combination of gold-toned and silver-grey paint remnants. These worn layers, together with areas of exposed cast iron and natural oxidation, create a rich, authentic patina that reflects the jardinière’s age and long history of use.
Due to its large size, this jardinière was originally intended for substantial plant arrangements and now serves as a striking decorative statement. Drainage holes are present in the base, confirming its original use as a planter.
Please note: we currently have another similar large cast iron jardinière available, offered in a separate listing.
