Antique French Pine Workshop Cabinet with Compartments
A tall and narrow antique workshop cabinet from France, made of solid pine. Originally used as practical storage in a workshop or similar working environment, the cabinet has a simple utilitarian construction and retains its original industrial character.
The cabinet features three separate doors, each fitted with metal hinges and a simple metal handle. Behind the doors is a series of individual storage compartments, originally intended for organising tools, materials or small workshop supplies.
The pine has developed a naturally aged surface with visible marks, scratches, stains and colour variations from years of use. The original metal hardware has also developed an aged patina. These traces of use have been left intact and form part of the cabinet’s character and history.
With its unusual height of 255 cm and narrow width of only 50 cm, the cabinet provides substantial storage while requiring relatively little floor space. It could be used for storing shoes, documents, collections or other smaller objects.
The cabinet can also be used horizontally, offering additional possibilities for placement and use. When positioned horizontally, it can be placed in either direction, depending on whether you prefer the hinged doors to open upwards or downwards. This allows the piece to function as a long, low storage unit as well as a tall vertical cabinet.
