French Garden Bench in Wood and Iron, 1950s

This French garden bench dates from the 1950s. It has a pair of painted iron end frames with a seat and back made from solid pine slats measuring approximately 30 × 35 mm.

The bench still retains its original wooden slats, which have developed a naturally weathered appearance over the years. Layers of green paint have worn away through decades of outdoor use, giving the bench the patina that only time can create. The painted iron frame also shows age-related wear, with areas of surface rust and paint loss consistent with its age.

The bench is solid and stable and can be used indoors or outdoors under suitable conditions.

A practical piece for a garden, terrace, conservatory or hallway.
