Set of Two vintage Poplar Wood Benches, 1920–1950
A set of two vintage benches dating from around 1920–1950 from France. Made from solid poplar wood, they feature thick plank seats, shaped supports and simple braced construction, giving them a strong architectural appearance.
Originally intended as benches, they are equally suitable as low display tables or, when placed one above the other, as a freestanding shelving unit. Their understated design works well in both rustic and contemporary interiors.
The wood has developed a warm natural patina over time, with the marks and irregularities that reflect decades of everyday use. Both benches are sturdy, stable and ready for use.
