An antique French shop chest of drawers dating from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1850–1900.

Crafted from poplar and pine, the chest features seven drawers in three different sizes, providing generous and practical storage. The shaped side supports and simple turned wooden knobs reflect its provincial origins and functional design.

The chest retains a beautifully weathered painted finish, revealing a rich palette of antique colours including deep burgundy, dusty rose, muted mauve, earthy brown, charcoal black and exposed natural wood. Decades of use have worn through the successive paint layers, creating an authentic patina that makes each surface unique.

Originally used in a workshop or shop, this piece is equally suited to a living room, hallway, bedroom or retail interior, where it offers both storage and character.
